One of the other reoccurring trends we saw on the Red Carpet at the Oscars, as well as the Red Colour trend I have previously posted about, is the Metallics and Nudes. Many stars opted for these dresses and they were shown in many different ways from modern, to Princess like, to glamorous. This has to be one of my favourite Red Carpet trends I had seen occurring many times throughout the season on the stars, it has real Hollywood feel and is fashionable without being to fashion forward.

Michelle Williams wearing Chanel Couture. The dress was taken from the Spring 11 runway but it was shown in an A-line loose shape with a more sheer finish. The dress was modified into a more sleeker body skimming shape, this definitely gave the dress more of a Hollywood starlet feel. Michelle's dress was a silver colour and covered with a pearl embellishment. Her side parted hair, soft makeup and porcelain skin made her outfit complete. She looked so content and happy in the dress, just how Mr Karl Lagerfeld would want any woman to look in his creations. Well done Michelle Williams for looking so naturally beautiful and chic.
Hailee Steinfeld wearing Marchesa. Again another nude colour, embellished dress seen at the Oscars but this time it is seen a much younger style. I love how the dress from far away looks like strapless but as you look closer it is actually a sleeveless dress with a sheer panel at the top. No accessories again needed on this dress as it has all the neckline detail, the embellishment and the tea-length shows off the shoes. Well done Hailee Steinfeld for looking Princess perfect.
Gwyneth Paltrow wearing Calvin Klein. One of my favourite looks at the Oscars. The colour of the dress in this metallic silvery, pale gold colour is just perfect against Gwyneth's skin tone. The fabric looks like liquid metal dripping onto the floor. What I love about this dress is that it is a modern take on the nude and metallic trend seen on the Red Carpet. As usual Calvin Klein again manages to create a dress that in shape and cut is so simple but because of the fabric used and how well made the dress is fit to Gwyneth's body it looks like perfection. I love the square deep V neckline on the dress which gives it that modern edge and with Gwyneth's poker straight hairstyle it is the perfect style for the dress. Well done Gwyneth Paltrow for giving us the best Modern look on the Red Carpet.
Nicole Kidman wearing Dior Couture. Nicole's body looks rocking in this dress, the detailing embellishment and the panels emphasise her perfect shape and figure even more. I love that Nicole has not gone safe with the dress, it has probably been one of the most talked about outfits on the Red Carpet at the Oscars whether it was loved or disliked by people. It has a slight Oriental feel to the dress but the ivory colour and necklace balance out this by taking it more into the Hollywood Glamour feel. The unexpected pop of colour with the shoes keeps the dress from looking anything but bridal, which some people always will try and say when the colour ivory is worn on the Red Carpet. Well done Nicole Kidman for your body looking amazing in the dress.
Halle Berry wearing Marchesa. Another actress where her body looked amazing in her dress on the Red Carpet. The designers are named the 'Queen of the Red Carpet' created a gown that Halle wore which had a lot of elements to the dress, embellishment, corsetry and a lot of tulle. All these elements are quite often seen on the Red Carpet but still we all turned our heads when we saw Halle, she looked so beautiful but yet still had the sexiness that Halle always has. You can see every detail of the dress and even from far away you can just tell how well made this creation is and how long it must of taken to make. Well done Halle Berry for never losing that confidence that seems to ooze out of you.

I hope this nude and metallic trend never fades away because I love everything about it. It can be worn in so many different ways and it suits absolutely everyone if done in the right way. The key is to get the colour and texture in the fabric against you right skin tone. There isn't just one nude tone, there are pinkie, yellow and brown tones along with the different fabrics being metallic, shimmery, sheer and block. Each of these different elements will look completely different on each persons skin tone and it just about finding the right one to suit you.
Nude and metallic is always the best alternative to black. Don't be afraid to try it!

One of the major trends was the slew of leading ladies dressed in varying shades of nude from honey gold metallics to a vintage off white to cool silver and somber shades. A bevy of glamorous starlets rocked the look at this year's Oscars ceremony.
ReplyDeleteI put Gwyneth on top of my Best Dressed list this year's Oscars. Just look how gorgeous she is with that custom-made, sparkling gold CK sheath dress. You forgot to mention her LV brooch and earrings. Simple yet elegant.
