If you haven't heard of these and you love fashion then something is seriously wrong...the Prada flatforms. You most likely won't have seen them for real on the shop floor of the stores, that is because they are a sell out all over the country and the world. They have been in so many features and must have lists in magazines and now that is probably the closest we will ever get to them, on paper. These shoes are in multiple colours and are the ultimate must have Spring Summer flat shoe of the season. The Prada flatform has now officially got its own waiting list and they are being made to order for clients all over the world.
The Prada Spring Summer 2011 runway was full of brightly coloured stripes, from the bags, to the fur scarves, to the dresses and as you can see even to the shoes, stripes were everywhere.
These Prada shoes are in between a traditional creeper, a brogue and a platform shoe. Basically these are the perfect daytime shoe for any fashionable heel lover as you get the height without the pain of wearing a heel. Flatforms are showing up not only as brogues but also as more strappy, girlie styles. Chanel in their Spring Summer 2011 was one of the brands that showed the other end of the spectrum of the flatform trend.
Alexander Wang had made his own version of the creeper shoe, along with many other designers over the Spring season have shown their own version of this emerging new trend of shoes called the flatform and the High Street stores are not far behind it either.
If I could get my hands on a pair of these Prada flatforms I would probably choose the tan colour with the bright orange stripe running through it. I love to wear tan in the summer, it is a colour that goes with so much and also is slightly softer and less harsh than wearing black but also tan looks great when teamed with an all black outfit, very rich and expensive looking. All these shoes need is a great pair of cropped trousers and a jacket to give a real sexy masculine feel, very Celine esque inspired, clean and sharp lines. To tone down the look, a great pair of skinnies and my simple jersey pieces with my leather jacket thrown over the top. To really go against the masculine feel of the shoes as Prada did, you could team it with a great summer mini dress either with a real girlie print or just a simple really cute little dress.
Keep your eyes peeled for these Prada flatforms if not for you at least for me!
Thankyou Prada

Oh Fi, I love your blog, too! It's funny that your top post is on the Prada platforms: my friend Charlie May is a recent Central Saint Martins grad and really talented designer, and she had done something really similar - possibly before Prada - as part of her graduation course (I'll have to check with her on that - so please stay in touch - I might be able to find out if she's making more).
ReplyDeleteAlmost forgot why I came here.. to thank you for sourcing the girl's IRO jacket: learned my one thing for the day. Will update the post, link the jacket on Net-a-Porter (it's on sale actually) and credit & link you.
