TRENDS - Chanel Cruise 2012

To get us ready and in the mood for the Red Carpet glamour of Cannes, Karl Lagerfeld decided to stage his show for his Cruise 2012 collection in the same country of France, to be exact it was again in the South of France as was his previous Resort collection but this time it was set in Antibes on the French Riviera.

What I love is that Karl makes his Resort shows just as important as he does with his main Spring Summer and Fall Winter shows. I always feel that he likes there to be more of a fun, carefree spirit with the Resort productions because the sun is always shining and also it is really good to get all of us fashion people excited again for the new season to come out. We are so overloaded during the main fashion weeks with show after show, it is really intense for us to take it all in and there is a lot of pressure for designers to be at the top. As there aren't many designers who show their Resort collections it is Karls chance to put on a party and a great show for his fans and muses and celebrate his collection. With Bryan Ferry performing and a short film that Karl produced called 'A Tale Of The Fairy' along with the showing of his collection what more could the guests ask for set in the South of France.

For this Resort collection Karl booked the whole of one of the most grand and expensive hotels in the world. To go with the stature of the hotel the collection consisted of real jewels, pearls and diamonds, nothing was too much or over the top in this collection. All of the guests were seated in deck chairs and shaded by huge white parasols, Karl certainly doesn't do anything by halves. Guests included Alexa Chung, Rachel Bilson, Blake Lively, Vanessa Paradis and Carine Roitfeld to name just a few. They all waved the flag for Chanel in their outfits that they wore to the show and they were all great hits to, just stunning!

In contrast to his Fall Winter 2011 collection that was shown where it was a very focused collection and not much diversity, this collection was completely the opposite, the actress Rachel Bilson said that there was everything from a day at the beach, to a wedding outfit. It started with yellow and lilac tweed suits, then went to cream twinsets, then to monochrome bathing suits. A nod to the ever popular nautical trend arose, then flowed into an array of wide leg trousers. Then came the more girly evening dresses in flowing fabrics and soft prints and embroidery.

These are just a few more of my favourite looks from the Chanel Cruise collection 2012.

As you can see how different each of the looks are, this is what I love so much about this Cruise collection, from the pearls piled around the wrists, to the intricate embroidery detail in the dresses and the hats and sunglasses I just loved!

Lets look forward to more of Chanels creations and see what surprise Karl has in store for us next season with his setting for the show and theme his is inspired by.

Thankyou Chanel

WISH LIST - Proenza Schouler - Rope Bracelet

Another true love of mine in my fashion world is Proenza Schouler. Since the neon collections and the PS1 bag launched I have been a huge fan of the brand.

I love neon fluro colours in clothing and accessories, I always feel that it has a real rock festival vibe. I have a really cool dress which I bought from the very first Christopher Kane collection for Topshop, it is a minky grey colour with a pleated skirt and lace detail but the thing that really makes the dress, is the neon yellow chunky zip running down the front of the dress. I think this is why I have fallen for the new rope bracelets that launched to coincide with the SS11 collection from Proenza with the neon touches throughout.

Here a few of my favourite looks from the Spring Summer '11 collection. I think when you see the detailing and modern take they create with tweeds, lace and silks you will see exactly why this duo of designers are the ones to watch out for in the next generation of designers that are definitely here to stay. Also they will be the brand that start the trends, push the boundaries and I am sure the High Street will be trying to copy as well!

Now you have seen the collection you will understand how these rope bracelets work so well with the collection, they make the collection more modern, fun and  have a fashion forward edge, as the fabrics in the outfits are very traditional materials that are used, it balances out the outfits perfectly. Created with what seems to be bungee cords and over sized metal hook and clasp fasteners, they almost look like they would belong to rock climbers.

Here are a few of the options of the rope bracelets that have been created by Proenza Schouler and also that I am desperate to get hold of.

If this wasn't enough for us to get excited over, the design duo have recently just announced that they will be launching a full collection of costume jewellery that will consist of more season less and classic pieces that will change materials and colours each season depending on the RTW collections they produce, as our beloved PS1 bag does for us, it changes colour, size and fabric depending on the designers inspiration for the season.

We will look forward to seeing what's to come from Proenza Schouler next season and whilst we wait I will just decide which of the rope bracelets to choose!

Thankyou Proenza Schouler

MY WARDROBE - Vintage Denim Dungarees

I think every girl has always loved a pair of denim dungarees! A lot of the time you think of denim dungarees as maternity wear and pregnant women wearing them with their massive bumps, this is what brought the memory back to me, my sister is currently pregnant and she is desperate to find a pair of maternity ones, if anyone can tell me where to get a pair for her then please let me know! From this instance of us talking about them my love for them has begun again!

Here are a few celebrities that have previously sported the dungarees trend. Alexa Chung is a massive fan of dungarees, Anna Friel, Mischa Barton and Helena Christensen are also wearing them in their own version.

I have hunted down a pair of vintage pale denim baggy cut off dungarees and I absolutely love them, they are such an easy to wear look, you can just put them on with a t-shirt and you are good to go! Its a very rock and roll, grungy look, which as you know is completely me on my days off. They are such a statement piece with the shape and detail in them, keeping it simple is the key to wearing them.

I will be wearing mine with my Rock band cut off t-shirt, black Kain tee or my LNA white tees in the summer, with black leather Converse or Haviannas flip flops, a great summer LA too. I even think if I wanted to rock them on a night out, my black lace short sleeved Stella McCartney top would look awesome, with a pair of black opaque tights and then my Prada clog high heels.

Over the years I have had numerous versions of the dungaree, a dark denim skirt version and a full wide leg halter neck denim version, now I am looking forward to finding all the ways of how I will wear my current vintage cut off pair, I am sure I will wear them over and over and then will have to find a new version to replace these. I love how they never really go out of fashion, there will always be a place in my wardrobe for a pair of denim dungarees!

Thankyou denim dungarees
